[Local's Pick] 3 Hidden Gems near Incheon Airport for Your April Trip

Hi, I’m a local living on Yeongjongdo Island — yes, the very island where Incheon International Airport is located!
While most travelers rush past here, heading straight into Seoul, I’m here to let you in on a little secret: Yeongjongdo is more than just an airport stopover. Especially in April, when the breeze is soft, the flowers are blooming, and the sea starts to sparkle again.

Here are three unique places I personally recommend — perfect for half-day or one-day visits before or after your flight.

Baemikkumi Sculpture Park

1. Baemikkumi Sculpture Park – The Secret Art Garden by the Sea

Tucked away in a quiet seaside corner, Baemikkumi Sculpture Park is a true hidden gem. You’ll find quirky art installations scattered along the cliffs, with sweeping ocean views that change hue with the time of day.

In April, wildflowers start blooming between the sculptures, and the sea breeze is just the right kind of chilly. Perfect for a peaceful morning walk, a creative Instagram shoot, or even just some quiet reflection time before a long flight.

> 🗺️ Location: Near Jamjindo Island (reachable by bridge)
> 📸 Local tip: Go around golden hour for the best ocean-light combo photos!

Muuido Island + Silmi Beach

2. Muuido Island + Silmi Beach – A Tiny Island Escape You Didn’t Know You Needed

Just 15 minutes from the airport, Muuido offers a little slice of coastal heaven. You can walk along Silmi Beach, watch the dramatic tide go out, and even cross over to a small uninhabited island on foot during low tide.

Locals love it for sunset picnics and shell- collecting strolls. In April, the beach isn’t crowded, and the skies are often pastel-hued — absolutely dreamy.

>  Local tip: Grab some grilled shellfish at a beach shack. It’s fresh, salty, and delicious.

3. Seaside Rail Bike @ Yongyu – Pedal Between Sky and Sea

Forget boring sightseeing buses — how about pedaling on a suspended rail bike above the ocean?
The Seaside Sky Bike in Yongyu is one of those offbeat experiences that’s hard to forget. The track runs along the coast, and in April, you get the full sensory package: ocean breeze, spring sunshine, and salty air.

It’s fun, refreshing, and surprisingly romantic (yes, even solo!).

> 🎟️ Local tip: Go in the late afternoon and then walk over to watch the planes land near the airport runway — goosebumps guaranteed.

✈️ Bonus: Everything's within 30 minutes of Incheon Airport

The best part? You don’t need to travel far. All three spots are less than a 30-minute taxi ride from the terminals. So whether you're killing time before a red-eye flight or spending a spring weekend in Korea, Yeongjongdo is totally worth exploring.
